2011 Swim Lesson Information

Hello Everyone!

I hope you all have had a great school year and that you and your families are doing well. I feel like summer is here now with these hot temps. and ready for swim lessons to begin.

I am continuing to teach swim lessons again this summer if you are interested. I have attached important information that may be helpful to you. If you are interested in the other courses I am certified to teach, please let me know (great for Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, etc.).

So, I will be available for swim lessons after 10:30am on Mondays and Thursdays.

I would like to combine some kids this summer and teach more small groups (2 or 3 kids at one time together who are about the same level). If you are interested and willing to do small groups rather than private, please let me know. I can pair up your child with others I know would work together well or you can let me know if you have others in mind that you would like to group together.

As always, I will work around vacations and summer camps...am very flexible. If the air temperature or water temperature is too cold, then we will cancel and reschedule for another time. Obviously, if it storming (thundering and lightening) or raining hard, we will also cancel and reschedule. I only charge for time in the water. If your child is sick or an emergency arises and it's necessary to cancel, please let me know as soon as possible, so I can make arrangements with my schedule. During the day (once lessons begin), my cell phone (calls/voicemail/text) is the best way to reach me since I travel (and I'm not yet checking email on my phone...hopefully soon). I always check my email every evening throughout the summer.

The "Revised Am. Red Cross Skills for Each Level" document I attached for your convenience will be helpful in determining which level is best for your child if you are not sure. An informal evaluation/assessment of individual current levels will take place during the first few minutes of the first lesson. Instruction will then be individualized in accordance with the child's needs and goals. It's also sometimes more effective when there are at least 2 children together in a lesson so they can watch each other to know what to expect and also help motivate one another. The number of lessons per week depends on your goals. Sometimes people want to prepare for a vacation and have 2 lessons per week or more. Sometimes (especially if they are in a pool almost everyday) people want to have lessons 1 time per week just to have a refresher for their kids, or to learn a few new skills to practice, or to work on specific skills to prepare for a swim meet. It really depends on your goals and needs. Feel free to email or call me if you have any questions or concerns.

Additional Information

I look forward to working with you and your kids again this year!
